Power Monitoring Systems

Energy Management, Power Quality and Power Monitoring and Analysis

Power monitoring systems are essential to developing effective energy management strategies to reduce consumption and consequently greenhouse gas emissions and energy costs. Tracking where and when major loads occur throughout the distribution network equips the user with the data to eliminate power wastage and reduce their carbon footprint. In addition power monitoring systems provide information on quality of supply including  voltage sags and surges, harmonic content and with high speed transient capture an understanding of fault conditions and failure modes.

Site Investigations

PCE have specialist power monitoring equipment which may be installed on a system to monitor power, harmonics and transients to determine system loading, power factor, and/or transients or intermittent faults. The data gathered over a period of time is analysed and provides a basis for improvements to the network including  optimising configuration, reducing demand, improving power factor and/or filtering harmonics.

Permanent Installations
PCE can assist with the design and implementation of power monitoring installations ranging from single stand alone units to a completely integrated system networked to plant information systems and producing monthly management reports. Proprietary software may be configured to provide customer specific reporting and data capture.

PCE recently completed a project for a coal loading facility utilizing Rockwell’s RSEnergyMetrix custom report scripting facility to tabulate information that matches the customer’s energy reporting requirements, automatically emailing periodic reports tailored to the recipient’s requirements
